Like children, they need to be reminded of the order of things.......

So last night we fought our first Of Gods and Mortals game.  We had a blast.  The system is a lot of fun and easy to learn/play.  I think we worked most of the kinks out last night.  I showed up with my Cthulhu warband and Bob had his Norse.

Here you can see the after deployment setup.  I had Cthulhu, Deep One, Gug, Shoggoth, 2 units of cultists, 1 Unit of flying Eldrich Demons, and a unit of 2 Shoggoth spawns.

Bob had Heimdall, 3 Valkeries, a Dvergar Weaponsmith 2 units of berzerkers, and 1 unit of bowmen,

We wasted no time with Bob getting initiative  With some unlucky rolls a Valkyrie charged the unit of Flying Demons and was defeated, only to be Charged by the unit of Berserkers and and taking casualties.

Play moved on with the Shoggoth losing battle, but staying on the board and only being knocked down.  the other two Valkyries was able to make it to the demons and between the two of them finished them off.

After a disastrous start, Cthulhu died on a very bad charge of the bowmen and was killed (GASP)  he was able to be re-summonedand ended up killing Heimdall, the Dvergar Weaponsmith and charged into the bowmen.

The berzerkers are successful in re-summoning Heimdall and he gets ready to attack the cultists.

Cthulhu dispatches the Archers.  You can see the pile of the dead rising

With my unit of cultists dead and the other unit under siege my only hope was to destroy the last unit of Berzerkers, as with no mortals on the table I would score the win.  The Spawn, however, failed all 3 of their activation checks and enabled Heimdall to get into melee with the unit of cultists on the other side of the table due to a reaction.

With a fatal swing, Heimdall dispatches the last cultists, scoring a win for Bob.

Some of the dead piling up on the side of the table.

All in all the game was an absolute hit.  Fast to play and just full of interaction between both of us.  I find this the best part of the system.  You were always rolling, reacting, activating.  Very little down time.  So of Gods and Mortals is a Keeper in my book!  :)

Bless the Maker and all His Water.....

So I finally got around to taking pictures of my Jordanian army for Arab Israeli War.  This is for the new supplement, Fate of a Nation that came out with Wargames Illustrated for Flames of War.  We have also tried it with Cold War Commander with some success so we are still debating which rules set we will use.

Jordanians.

HQ Tanks M48 Pattons.  I used a sand primer, washed with a dirty wash and dry brushed back up to a sand.  Then I airbrushed the camo and added the decals.

1st Platoon of M48's

2nd Platoon of M48's

Meshah Meykaneykeyh Mechanized Platoon.  They used British WW2 kit mainly with the exception of the Super Bazooka.  Their vehicles were US and you can see the accompanied M113's .

M113's  painted the same as the Pattons.

Onlyt thing left is to add in the AA and artillery.  All in all it was a fun force to paint.  Look forward to playing it more.

The most merciful thing in the world... is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents........

Say it with me folks......CTHULHU!!!

With that my gaming friends and I have decided to build Of Gods and Mortals War bands for our impending trip to Fall In.

Of Gods and Mortals is the brainchild of Andrea Sfiligoi the author of Song of Blades and Heroes and is based off that system.  It really is a great and robust skirmish level system.  So always wanting to think outside the box, I decided to create a Cthulhu war band with the big guy as my God.  So without further ado....

UPDATE:  Here are the points and abilities I gave them  Warband

The War band in all its glory

Cthulhu himself.  I ended up using the small Eldritch demon from reaper.

First legend is a Gug Eldritch Horror.  Again from reaper.

My Shoggoth and slimelings again both from reaper.

A Deep one using an Octopon form the Great White games 50 fathoms line.

Cultists from Sgt. Major Miniatures.

More Cultists from Sgt. Major Miniatures.

Small Demons from Sgt. Major Miniatures.

For the bases I used the Renendra large oval bases.  Unfortunately I was one short so I had to improvise cut one from hardboard.  The good part of that was I countersunk the base holes instead of using putty to make them.  I found it a lot cleaner.

Violence and Naked Force, has Settled More Issues in History than has Any Other Factor.

Our group has decided to dip our feet into 6mm Micro armor so I decided to go outside the box with a Stryker Battalion for Cold War Command.  I have always loved the look of the stryker so it was a no brainer when we decided to jump in on which force i would field.  I added in some Super Cobras because they are just too bad ass not too. :)

So without Further Adu.

The Force in all its glory.

These are the CO and HQ units  Various command Styker Vehicles.

12 Infantry Units including LMG's, HMG , AT4, and a Dragon.

12 M1126 Strykers to Carry the Infantry Squads

3 M1129 120mm Mortar Carriers

3 M1134 Anti Tank Strykers with TOW's

6 M1128 MGS Strykers with 105mm Guns

2 AH-1Z Huey Super Cobras

So there you have it.  Should be a lot of fun to play.

Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man...who even now fight to survive

So last we we tried out my Battlestar Rules.  We had a blast thought I have already made quite a few revisions to defense values and how the rolls work for damage.  The mission was that the colonial fleet had to make a short arc around or through the nebula and exit the table.  The cylons were to inflict as much damage as possible.

Forces are lined up on the board.  We did not allow shooting through the nebula, but ships in the nebula could be shot at with a stealth of 4+.

The colonial fleet.  We started the game with all Fighters on the table.

The Cylon fleet readying to destroy the Colonials.

The Cylon fleet advances.   We used the Asteroids a sort of area terrain that blocked line of site though the box drawn from the asteroid bases.  Next game I will have the asteroids moving to make it more dangerous going close to the fields.

As the Fleets approached the shooting started.  As I stated before we had a few too many rolls and with high defense values most shots were not doing much damage, though the Cylons scored an early critical on the Loki causing it to be -4 speed. The hunter had lined himself up for a lance shot but with some terrible rolls no damage was scored.

The action starts to heat up as the ships get closer and enter engagement.  Lots of again mostly ineffective firing but a number of dogfights took out some fighter stands

More manuevering and firing and we ended the game at this point as it was time to go.  In the end one cylon medusa was crippled, the loki and hunter suffered some damage but the fleets were moslty in tact with no capital ships being destroyed.

All in all we had a good time and next time I think the values will be a lot better.  We are still a little unsure as to if it was the values themselves or the fact that everyone was rolling 1's and 2's most of the night.  We definitely had below average rolling. :)

There Are Those That Believe That Life Here, Began Out There....

So after months of sitting in bins, I finally got around to painting up my Battlestar Galactica ships from Ravenstar Studios  and even ended up ordering some more bigger ships to join the fight.  I am using modified A Call to Arms rules.  Rules can be downloaded here  I am also debuting my new space mat from Monday Night Productions.  Props to my daughter for the Mars model that we made.  A $8 bag of lava rocks game me more than enough to make some nice asteroid fields.

So enjoy!

Across the Nebula the ships face off

Colonial Might

A Battlestar in all its glory Vipers and Raptors

Light Battlestar and a Destroyer

Frigate and a Warstar

Basestar, Medusa Destroyer, Raiders and Heavy Raiders

Basestar, Chimera Command Carrier and Hydra Light Carrier

Basestar

Medusa Destroyer

So that is all my Battlestar Goodness.  Going to play a game this week.  Should be a lot of fun.

UPDATE:  Here are the rules modifications I am using for the game.  HAVE FUN!!!

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

As promised last time Are pics of my Chaos Dwarf army.  I have assembled this army over many many years and am very prod of the conversions and unique old models in my force.  enjoy!

A nice big block of Warriors with shields and hand weapons.  Lots of old Marauder miniatures and GW plastic dwarves with Chaos warrior heads.  In the center is a nice cloaked Sorcerer and a converted dwarf engineer to his right

Some Great Weapon guys again Marauder and Plastics

More Shield hand weapon guys with my favorite hatchet warrior champion!

Fear the CLEAVER!!!!

Some more great weapon guys and another sorcerer in the middle

A Converted White Dwarf miniature now for the HASHUT!

Converted Blunderbusses

The dreaded Lammasu.  I put a space on the base for the rider to walk along side instead of ridden so I can use it with any of my foot guys.

My Converted boar centaurs and their Hero.  I used a dragon ogre upper body and the Bull Taurus as his body.  The "Boar" centaurs are actually plastic boars with dwarf bodies and green stuff.  I had to make some base adapters as they changed the base size in the new book.

One of my Deathrocket conversion of old Marauder miniatures.  Rocket launcher doom!

Another Rocket Launcher

Another Deathrocket this a type of swivel gun

Another one this time a ugly mortar type look

The inevitable Hellcannon!

Another Hellcannon Shot
