The Eye that Looks Ahead to the Safe Course is Closed Forever....

So we had another test game last night of Trilaterum.  Things are really coming together.  Activation is much more streamlined.  The new firing sequence worked well and all in all I am happy with the results.  It ended up being a close game with the humans squeaking out a victory by 5 points.  325 to 320 lol

So that tells me things are pretty evenly matched.  We had some great rolls going on and the exploding mechanic I think really is a lot of fun.  Basically the way it works is you roll to hit.  You can then choose to keep rolling the hits for more hits.  However, if you roll a 1 on subsequent hits you get to roll on the rapid fire table which can be anything from stop rolling to remove the squad as a casualty.

Suppression is working a lot better as well.  And gives you the sense of hitting the dirt

I am very excited to hit Huzzah in 2 weeks and run some games.  As always follow the Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/trilaterum/  .  Also check out Stan Johansen Miniatures for the miniature lines.

Here are some pics of the game board.  Thanks to Frank and Richard for playing.  The scenario was to control the radar dish in the center of the board at the end of turn 6 if nobody controlled it we went to points.  Since we only played 3 turns, we decided to use points and that was how we got the results.

The UEL moving up the board to get into the Colony.

Draconids have taken the buildings and firing on the Grav Platforms

The Heavy Cannons are positioned in the woods for maximum effect.

Draconids taking HEAVY damage in the colony.  but they stayed strong.

OPEN FIRE!!!!

Thanks for looking.  If you are going to Huzzah I will be doing a game Sat evening and Sunday morning.

Every Experience Carries its Lesson......

Work has been solidly progression on Trilaterum.  I have decided to revamp a few of the action phases so more on  that later.  Its been a lot of work.

So I decided to change gears a little bit this weekend and work on some modern / ultramodern / XCom / zombie apocalypse style stuff.  I really want to do a black ops xcom game and also run some zombie apocalypse as well.  Enjoy

I Must Rule with Eye and Claw — as the Hawk Among Lesser Birds....

I decided after my game over last weekend I wanted some brand spanking new terrain to play games on.  The geo hex I was using was just a pain homing apart and not really looking all that great.  So I took to the basement and carved up foam core and board alike to make me some new terrain.

As always follow my game development on my page  https://www.facebook.com/trilaterum/

Enjoy the new terrain.

Here is some of the foam cut and primed.  I use Gesso to prime as it really does a good job covering the foam and giving a nice finish.    I found a video that was great in learning a good way to cut the foam.  You use a sawing up and down motion at an angle.  It works really well.

I did 2 shades of grey and then white dry brush.   Painted the Tops green then flocked with a mixture of the fine turf in 3 different colors of green.

Here is another set of hills.  Same treatment.

Some more finished pieces.  I use a mixture of 2" 1.5" and 1" foam to give a good variety.

This was an experiment in a stone mesa.  I used a hammer and beat the piece very well.  I then used a can opener to score and pull the sides to give the stone appearance.  Painted and then flocked with large brush pieces.

A rock outcropping.  This was a really hard piece as It took me a long time to get the cuts to look like they do.  Flocked the base with the same mix on the hills and the same brush on the mesa.

Another rock column.  I am not 100% on this one.  it was easier than the one above but does not look as natural.

Some new rivers and roads.  I used vinyl floor tiles and painted on modelling paste to give the effect.  I had previously done a set of these using paintable. silicon caulk but they did not hold up well.  these will hopefully be better.

Thanks for looking.

I must not fear. Fear is the Mind-Killer...

So yesterday was my con debut of my Trilaterum  rules.   It was a good game and I thank all the people that played in it.  We definitely had a few issues that needed to be resolved.  The main thing was activation ran slow at the multiple players level so I will rethink how to work the activation phase in a con environment.  Typically in the game the active player activates 1-4 squads and does their actions and play passes to the opponent.  In a two player game that's fine but with 4+ it kinda bogged it down a little.  I think I will just have each player activate simultaneously per side.  That would hurry it a long well.

Also in the case of a squad doing 2 shoot actions I had to rethink how the special rules resolve.  I think I have the changes in place I will play test them in the coming weeks to see but I like the results so far.

There were also a few terrain conundrums but I think these are resolved by just reiterating the rules as they are written that terrain is a template that blocks LOS unless you are touching/ in the terrain.  I need to think about how to deal with hills and changes of elevation.  Also whether when you go in buildings if there is elevation.  I think that will add to much minutia.

I added in walkers and I like how they have worked out so far.  I might put in some more special rules for them but I think they add a lot of flavor to the atmosphere of the game.

So here are some pics of the action.  As always check out Stan Johansen Miniatures for his 15mm Scifi Line.

Thanks to everyone for playing  see you at Huzzah!!!!
