The Fever of War that Would Presently Clog Vein and Artery, Deaden Nerve, and Destroy Brain, had yet to Develop.......

So the annual Games day was at the Hobby Bunker in Malden Ma on Saturday and I ran two games of All Quiet on the Martian Front for the crowd.  Had a great time and thanks to all that came and played.

The martians forces were mustered and ended up being 3 assault tripods, 3 scout tripods, a grenadier, a slaver, 2 units of drones and 2 units of lobototons.

The humans also saw reinforcements in the guise of French Foreign Legionnaires.  So the humans mustered 3 units of MKII's, 3 units of MKIII's, 2 Units of American Infantry, 1 unit of Armored infantry, 1 unit of American Machine Guns and 1 unit of American Rough Riders.  The French mustered 1 unit of FT 17 tanks (Used as MKII's) 2 units of French Foreign Legion infantry, 2 units of French Foreign Legion Cavalry, and a unit of French Foreign Legion Machine guns.

What I ended up doing was setting up the table and then reversing the objectives for the sides.  For the first game the martians had to take the town to a dug in human force.

So the stage is set.  Humans dug in, martians advancing.

And we are off.  the martians take up an aggressive stance at the edge of the town and start shooting.  Unfortunately the cover of buildings helps tremendously and the humans shake off most of the shooting.

Humans score some PUNISHING turn one hits on the scout tripods and takes out one and damages the two others.

Martians continue their advance trying to destroy the french resistance on this side of town.

Starting to get closer to town as the martians cause more and more damage, though they take some in return in the form of drones and Lobototons.

The lonely street as the Assault tripod advances.....

Most of the martians on this side of the board have been destroyed in a spectacular explosion that took out many infantry and tanks as well and cleared a wide swath.  Unfortunately for the martians, the next shot took out the slaver tripod and ALL THE DRONES AND LOBOTOTONS left in another mushroom cloud.

The final result was the last scout and grenadier tripod moved down the road, only to be destroyed with overwhelming firepower...  HUMAN WIN!!!

On the heels of their victory, the humans have advanced down the road to the next town to rout out the martians dug into the town.  Once again unto the breach dear friends!!!

The french have started their advance...  I am using the FT-17's as just standard Mk II's.  Unfortunately the martian players could not hit the side of a barn and the sweep missed them all.

Armored infantry assault!!!!!!!

French Legionnaires GO!!!!

More Legionnaires and some Legionnaire Cavalry

And that's one dead assault tripod!  Way to go human shooting!

The Martian player has had some very unlucky rolls and the humans have been steadily destroying and advances into the town.

Surrounded and outgunned the Martians should be hitting stuff with those heat rays,  but the dice gods were not in their favor.  In an unlucky turn of events, the slaver is once again nuclear exploded and takes out the drones, the other assault tripod and damages the grenadier.

The Lone Martian Grenadier holds the town at this point, but is destroyed in a hail of fire from the human forces...HUMAN VICTORY AGAIN!!!

It was a great time and I was honored by Boston Trained Bands to be awarded a Game Master trophy and certificate.  Thanks for a great time!

With Infinite Complacency Men Went to and fro Over This Globe About Their Little Affairs, Serene in Their Assurance of Their Empire Over Matter.....

Once more into the breach dear friends!!!!  Another All Quiet game last night.  Was a lot of fun thanks to Bob, Ted and Dave for playing.  So without further ado here we go!

So here was the setup.  Flanked on both sides the humans have dug in to the town ready to defend it at all costs.  The objective is the martians have to take the center of town before the end of turn 6.

On the Right flank we have 3 scout tripods moving in.

The humans have hunkered down trying to stay in cover until the martians get closer

Rallying in town.  All the human non vehicle units started in fortified cover in their buildings.  7 full units of mk2 and 3's are waiting int he town for the martians.

The left flank contained the main fighting force of 3 assault tripods and a grenadier.

Humans get the initiative and start the game off.  All I will say is Dave is a master dice man.  First shot of the game he shoots a scout tripod, blows it up and vaporizes his own cavalry squad!

Taking initiative the 2nd turn the martians have advanced into the town limits and are now causing some real damage.

Not a good view for the forces on main street

Ted brings the rough riders into action.

Damaged first turn the assault tripod had the weapon damaged result so every turn Bob was rolling off with Ted to determine who would shoot the martian's weapons.  Unfortunately for Bob he maintained control but failed to hit.

Damage is racking up on the scout tripods from the FT-17's (Using these as mkii's as part of my french foreign legion detachment)

More carnage as the grenadier is destroyed and bob advances the assault tripods down main street.

The humans, in a show of force, obliterate the other two scout tripods and secure the right flank.  (Like I said Dave rolls like a CHAMP)

Serious damage is piling up on the assault tripod.  10 damage and still going....

This looks like a standoff to me.  Having taken the center of town now the martians have to hold it.  BOY there is a lot of units there contesting..... If only the martians could do something about that....

And with a mushroom cloud explosion the left assault tripod explodes and takes EVERY HUMAN UNIT WITH IT!!!!  lol  now if the assault tripod can just survive 1 more turn....

And in a stunning defeat, the humans take down the last tripod. Great game and good times.

The People Who can Destroy a Thing, They Control a Thing....

So Max decided he wanted to play some 15mm scifi so I pulled out my minis, made up some stat cards and set up a nice big game of Gruntz.  The set up is simple.  The humans have established a colony and the native aliens are none too happy about it.  All manor of beast has been called into service by the robotic overlords.  And now on to our exciting adventure!!!

So here we are set up got our settlement on the one end and the aliens on the other.

Max is very happy with his setup.  I gave him tons of cool monsters and beasties including 2 "Death Worms" which are super heavy walkers.

AAnd we are off.  Max is contemplating the distance so he can crush some foes!

Moving up he had some good rolls and the death work ate a few specialists.  here the mecha's are trying to keep it at bay.

A living flame elemental has charged in to take on the other mecha squad.  Its flame breath has already taken its toll on the power armored infantry.

A squad of robotic legionnaires advances around the trees to meet another squad of power armored infantry.

An Infantry squad is holding the command center.  The'll never take us alive!!!!

Getting awfully congested over here.

Max moves up his infantry to engage the Boar Hounds advancing around the flank of the death worm.

We only got to play 2 turns before Max wanted to quit but he got a good grasp of the game and we had fun which is the reason we do this.
